With the 2024 Paris Olympics hosting its spectacular closing ceremony this week, viewers from around the world were tuned into the spectacle. During the event, a 2010 production from Kavinsky was played and the world quickly reacted to discover the track.

The Olympics offer the opportunity for athletes, artists, politicians, and citizens of the world to unite as one while showcasing their own national pride during the two weeks of events and ceremonies. The Paris Olympics utilized its platform to not only allow the most gifted athletes in the world to take center stage but also deliver unique musical experiences and performances, especially during the opening and closing ceremonies. While this year’s closing ceremonies featured global superstars such as Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre performing as French act Phoenix took center stage during the festivities.

Although not the centerpiece of the ceremony, Phoenix did invite producer Kavinsky out for his 2010 anthem Nightcall, a moment that led to a record-breaking search from fans worldwide. While the song played, a staggering 6,921,000 Shazam’s were recorded, making it a single-day record and promptly pushing the single to the top of the platform charts. The inclusion of Nightcall and the public reaction are a huge boost for the producer and the track itself. Although the Olympics are over, the event not only inspired via the on-field athletic heroics but also provided a gateway for the discovery of music for those watching worldwide.
